Warehouse New Year Checklist 2025: Stay Organised This Christmas

2025 is drawing to a close… Wow, this year has gone by quickly!

First of all, we’d like to thank all of our customers and partners for their continued trust in us. While we celebrate the festive season and feel the holiday spirit in the air, it is also time to look ahead and start some seasonal warehouse maintenance to ensure an efficient and productive New Year.

Why Seasonal Preparation Matters

Many businesses leave their “warehouse new year’s resolutions” until January — checking equipment, replacing old machinery, or booking overdue servicing. Nearly everyone does this – which must mean it’s the right thing to do? I would disagree with this.

It’s like leaving Christmas dinner shopping until Christmas Eve. You’ll find the essentials gone, and what’s left may not be the right fit — you might end up with chicken instead of turkey. Sure, it gets the job done, but it’s close, as Joe Lycett once said, close ‘’doth butter no parsnips’’. In warehouse terms, that’s like buying a pallet truck that can handle 75% of your stock but leaves the rest waiting. Not ideal when efficiency is everything

Making arrangements in advance will help you avoid downtime, maintain productivity, and beat the January rush. The best time to check and replace equipment is during seasonal shutdowns, which will guarantee that your warehouse is ready to fulfil goals for the upcoming year.

Warehouse New Year Checklist

Inspect Your Pallet Trucks

Check wheels, forks, and hydraulics.
Book in maintenance for any models showing wear.

Review Safety equipment

Ensure access platforms, safety cages, and barriers are in good condition.
Replace damaged or outdated equipment.

Service your forklift attachments and tyres

Inspect jibs, spreaders, and snow ploughs before peak winter use.
Lubricate and tighten moving parts.
Ensure your tyres are safe and have enough tread to be used on slippery floors that are a given in the peak of winter.

Organise Your Warehouse Layout

Reassess racking and storage.
Organise your stock to create space as well as make products easier to find.
Clear out unused stock to free up space.

Plan for Winter Conditions

Keep gritters and salt spreaders ready – just in case.
Stock up on essential supplies for icy weather.

Order early for 2026

Avoid January supply delays by pre-ordering critical equipment.
